If you're expecting a rational review of "Becoming Jane", read no further, because this is a movie only a true Jane Austen fan could love. If you like a good romance movie, or enjoy historical ones, you just might like it.
Personally, I liked it so much, that I didn't mind the fact that Jane was played by an American, even though Anne Hathaway did a great job, or the inaccurate costumes some of the characters wore. It must be the classic witty girl - impudent man romance, the exact same reason why I love "Pride & Prejudice". I mean, just look at this scene! Puts a smile on my face every time, especially when he says "widened".
It's an example of why fans love prequels - I've read her books, know her life story, but it's still beautiful to see how it all began. And I admit, the whole story of her an Lefroy gets me all gooey. Particularly when he smirks at 1:19 here.
And because Regency is my favorite historical period, but for that, another time.
